What is Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)?
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a full head and neck 3D X-ray imaging technology that is used in situations where regular X-rays are not sufficient. It uses a special type of technology to generate 3D images of teeth, soft tissues, nerve paths, and bone.
When is CBCT used?
CBCT is useful in a variety of diagnostic situations, including implant planning, oral surgeries, impacted teeth, periodontal diseases, and endodontic anomalies. It can also identify the size and extent of infections, cysts, and tumors.
Is this treatment safe?
A CBCT scanner produces a concentrated beam of radiation that is slightly higher than a conventional dental X-ray, but it is still very safe. Radiation will not remain in your body after the scan is completed. Our office takes all precautions to minimize your exposure during the treatment. This machine makes it possible for all of our oral surgeries and procedures to go as smoothly as possible.
